Meet Kara

I am a wife, mother, speech-language pathologist, volunteer, some-times blogger, an adoptive mama, and an expat (expatriate).  I grew up in a teeny-tiny town in central Illinois (USA) and I now find myself living in a city of approximately 10 million people in China.

My husband and I are high school sweethearts.  We lived in central Illinois for 10 years before being transferred to Suzhou, China with my husband's company.  We called Suzhou home for 4 years.  During the summer of 2015, we moved 2 1/2 hours inland by plane to our new city, Xi'an.  We have three daughters, whom we've nicknamed LBean (9 years),  EBean (6 1/2 years), and ChinaBean (4 years) to protect their privacy.  We also have a very cute puppy named Oreo.

I began this blog to serve three purposes:

1) Keep our family connected to family and friends back in the United States.

2) Record as many memories of our adventures for our children.

3) Help other expats and future expats as they transition to their new homes.  (I did a lot of blog stalking before I moved to China...well, honestly, I still do!)
